Baby shower invitation wording you can copy
The short answer. A baby shower invitation needs five things: whose shower it is, who is hosting, when and where, a date to reply by, and a gentle word about gifts if you have a preference. Open with one warm line, keep the rest plain, and send it four to six weeks before the shower.
What to include
- Whose shower it is. The mum-to-be, or both parents for a co-ed shower.
- Who is hosting. Guests reply to the host, so they need to know who that is.
- When and where. Date, start and finish time, and the address.
- When to reply by. About two weeks before, so the host can plan food and seats.
- Anything they should know. A gift list, a theme, a dress colour, or that it's a surprise.
If you are sending it on WhatsApp, the details go on the invitation and the message only needs a greeting, one line and the link.

Gift wording that doesn't sound like a shopping list
Mention gifts once, near the end, and make it sound like help rather than a rule.
The message to send with it
On WhatsApp, the message that carries the invitation should be short and come from the host. The link opens the invitation with the details and a way to reply.
Sending it with Our Guest List
On Our Guest List you type the mum-to-be's name, choose a design, and each guest gets their own link with the details and a button to reply. Replies, numbers and anything guests can't eat collect in one list, and you send each invitation from your own WhatsApp or iMessage, or by email to guests with an address.
Most showers fit the free plan, which covers 50 guests. Start free, or see baby shower invitations.
Questions people ask
- When should you send baby shower invitations?
- Four to six weeks before the shower, with a reply date about two weeks before it. Most showers are held four to eight weeks before the due date, so the invitations often go out around the start of the third trimester.
- Who sends the baby shower invitations?
- Usually the host: a friend, a sister, a mother or a co-worker. The invitation says who is hosting so guests know who to reply to. Sending your own is fine too, and increasingly common.
- Is it OK to mention a gift list on a baby shower invitation?
- Yes, once and gently. Many guests prefer to know what is useful. Put it near the end, and pair it with a line saying their company matters more.
- Can men come to a baby shower?
- If you want them there. A co-ed shower invites partners, friends and family of every kind. Say so on the invitation, so nobody has to ask.
